I am honored to have your child in one of my Language Arts reading, or elective classes. I know that we will have a successful, exciting, and productive year.
You are the key to your child’s success. I want to work with you to increase not only your child’s reading and writing skills but also want to increase his/her confidence in everyday life skills. Your child will find that I am tough but fair. I have high academic and behavioral expectations for my students. I expect EVERY student will learn to the best of his/her ability and achieve more this year than they ever thought possible. Each day in class builds on the day before so I encourage your child to be present in body and in mind to prevent getting behind. On a more personal note, I have a middle schooler (a 12 year old going into 8th grade) who is the love of my life. I have been to 53 countries and counting and have lived in five countries outside of the USA…South Africa, Mexico x2, Australia, Belize, and Spain. Teaching was a career change for me in 1999 and since that time I have been a college professor, taught grades 6-9 in Mexico, and taught grades 9-12 at Countryside High School. I have a BA in Literature, Dual MAs in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction and English, and a PhD in Education. If at any time you have questions, comments, or concerns please e-mail me at [email protected]. Sincerely, Ms. Jean Hitchcock |
